Saturday Snapshots

This is my first time linking up with Run! Miss Nelson’s got the Camera for Saturday Snapshots.  Our house has been filled with guests this week.  At one point, we had 6 adults, a toddler, and 2 dogs in our house.  It was a lot of fun to share our new house with our friends who live out of state.  Here are some pictures from the past week:
I took this beauty as we walked around the lake near our house.  I still can't believe this beautiful lake is just a short walk from our new house.
Our friends came to visit us from Louisiana.  We shared some delicious libations at a local restaurant.  Anything with ginger beer gets my vote.

Later in the week our friends from Arkansas came to visit too. This little cutie had everyone wrapped around his finger.  Here he was in the Ferris wheel at Children's Fairyland.  After that, we walked around the botanical garden.

Of course, we had to take our guests to see the Golden Gate Bridge. It was an extremely foggy day, but it's always a beautiful view.  Our dogs walked across the bridge for the first time too. They were troopers.

I can't wait to see everyone else's snapshots, so be sure to link up.

Favorite Pins Friday

It's been a busy week full of house guests and home renovation projects, but I am back to link up with Cara for Favorite Pins Friday.

I still do not know what my new classroom will look like, but I know that organization will be key.  I love how organized this teacher corner is.

I love the use of the plastic drawers because I tend to pile, and these drawers would camouflage all those piles.
After spending over an hour browsing in Target the other day, I finally decided on my classroom color scheme: black and brights (mostly purple and turquoise).

I love the black background and bright borders in this classroom.  I can’t wait to get into my classroom and start decorating.

I need to get off my butt and start getting into a workout routine before school starts back again in a month.  I pinned the next two 30 day fitness challenges earlier in the summer, but never got to them.

Amanda at Living in Another Language is hosting a link up for these 2 fitness challenges, so I figured it was the perfect time to start.  Nothing like online accountability to get me up and exercising.  Anyone else want to join us?
I am still in new house decorating mode, so many of my recent pins have been for the house.  I have been wanting to make one of these laundry pedestals since last year when I first pinned this idea.

I am happy to say that we completed our own version of these for our new laundry room.
I love the pop of purple!
I am also dying to make my own version of this wine cork collection frame.

I love the saying, but $450 is too expensive for me (that could buy quite a few bottles of wine) and the original version is too large for our space.
I hope everyone enjoys their weekend!

Tackle It Tuesday and a Freebie

It’s that time again… Tackle it Tuesday with 3 Teacher Chicks.
This linky party is really helping me stay focused on creating new activities for second grade that meet the Common Core State Standards. This activity focuses on the second grade Common Core Math Standard 2.G.2: I can find the area of a rectangle. My product “Roll to Find the Area,” is an activity that can be used by a small group of students or individual students.

I love this activity because the students think it is a game because they are using dice and crayons, but it can easily be used for a practice activity or an assessment.  You can also print the activity sheet on cardstock and laminate it or put it in a sheet protector for an activity sheet that can be used over and over again with whiteboard markers. I included two versions of the activity sheet to differentiate.  The first version instructs students to count the squares to find the area of the rectangle.  The second version instructs students to multiply the length times the width to find the area of the rectangle.
This product will be free all this week, so head over and download it and I hope you will follow my TpT store to be notified when I post new products.  Make sure to check out the other products on Tackle It Tuesday that teachers have created to tackle the Common Core State Standards too.
