Sunday Scoop: October 12th

Happy Sunday! I hope you are enjoying your weekend…I know I am. I am linking up with The Teaching Trio for Sunday Scoop.

Have to:
I was able to get ahead on my lesson planning, so I actually have a Sunday to enjoy without those looming over me. We finally have access to an online program called i-Ready, so I need to find time for my students to take the initial placement test.  I am loving that our school has decided to follow Jan Richardson’s Next Step in Guided Reading plans for guided reading this year.  I need to plan some phonics extensions for my two lowest groups.  As is the case every Sunday, I still need to grade the spelling and math tests that I gave this week.

Hope to:
I have neglected our laundry this week, so I hope to get caught up on it today.  I also hope to win both of my Fantasy Football match-ups this week….it hasn’t happened yet this season.

Happy to:
I am loving my new routine of going to the gym before work each morning.  It is such a great way to start my day, and I can see some results!

I hope everyone has a great week!

  1. Hi Lauren! I'm really curious about your morning workout--What do you do? And what time do you go to the gym? My gym opens at 6, so I don't have quite enough time for a workout before I head to school.
Enjoy the rest of your Sunday!

    1. Hi Erica! I take the spin class from 5:45-6:45 on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Fridays. Mondays and Thursdays I lift weights. I am lucky that I live really close to both the gym and school, so I get home by 7:00 to get ready for school. There are some mornings that I do a workout DVD at home, which might work for you. Good luck!

  2. How on earth do you get up early enough to work out?! I tried all summer to get up and walk every morning. Some mornings I did it and some I was lazy! And that was without having to be at my job! Good for you, though!

    1. Hi Carol! Getting up at 5:15 was difficult for the first couple weeks, but now it is a routine. I actually wake up before my alarm most days. It also helps that I go to sleep pretty early too. The way I feel after working out is the motivation to keep me getting up.

  3. I am going to have to look into iReach and Next Step in Guided Reading! I am in desperate need of ways to plan effectively this year :) My fantasy football team is looking decent right now, but tomorrow could do me in! Good luck with your week!

    1. HI Jillian! I highly recommend Jan Richardson's book. It has really helped me to make the best use of my guided reading time. She has differentiated templates for the different levels, so each group is getting exactly what they need. Good luck with your Fantasy team. I am behind in one league and ahead in the other.
