Slim Down Saturdays Update....February 23rd

Happy Sunday! We have been enjoying some beautiful weather this weekend.  We spent a good part of yesterday outside, so I’m a day late on this update. I am linking up with Gina from Third Grade Tidbits for Slim Down Saturdays.
This accountability has really helped me in my journey to eat healthier and get active.  If you have similar goals, I highly recommend linking up if you haven’t already.
Ultimate goal: I am less than 5 pounds away from meeting my weight loss goal for my April wedding.  Now I am focusing on toning up for the big day.
Gain/Loss for the week: I was super nervous to step on the scale yesterday.  Valentine’s Day, a weekend out of town with lots of eating out, and less time at the gym made me think I was going to gain weight.  I guess I have learned to indulge in moderation because I still ended up losing 1.6 pounds over the past 2 weeks.
K and I at Red Rocks in Colorado last weekend.
Total since starting: I hit the 10 pounds lost mark! Less than 5 pounds until I reach my 15 pound goal.  I need to stay focused and not fall into the self-sabotage trap.
Positives form the week: I have been saving a pair of shorts in my drawer for over 3 years that became way too tight.  As I was putting away laundry this morning, I decided to try them on and they fit!  It’s not quite shorts weather, but I am super excited to see the progress that I’ve made so far.
Something to do better: After going out of town for the weekend and several after school commitments, I only made it to the gym 2 times this week.  I feel so much better when I work out every day, so I am going to schedule my gym workouts for the week and put reminders in my phone.
Goal for next week: My goal is to be super focused this week on eating healthy and working out so that I won’t feel guilty while celebrating with my family and friends at my bridal shower.  I live about 370 miles away from my family and closest friends, so this Saturday will not just be about my bridal shower, but a reunion as well.  I will still try to make healthy choices (thanks to my mom who is also on Weight Watchers), but I don’t want to say no to having a fun time with everyone.

One word: “Strong”: After making good progress on my weight loss, I am now focusing on muscle-building exercises to tone up.  I love the saying, “Strong is the new skinny” because it puts the focus on being strong instead of skinny.  I need to keep reminding myself of this and not focus on a number on a scale.

Slim Down Saturdays - February 8th

It’s a lazy, rainy Saturday here in California.  I can’t complain since we desperately needed the rain.  It gives me an excuse to take it easy and spend sometime catching up on school work and wedding planning.  I am linking up with Gina from Third Grade Tidbits for Slim Down Saturdays. This accountability has really helped me in my journey, so I highly recommend linking up if you haven’t already.

Ultimate goal: I am on track to meet by weight loss goal by my April wedding.  Now I am focusing on toning up for the big day.
Gain/Loss for the week: I guess six days at the gym really paid off this week.  I’ll take a pound loss a week any day.
Total since starting: With 9.2 pounds lost, the tens place has changed. I try not to get wrapped up in a number, but I know the weight that I feel healthy and comfortable at, and I’m almost there.
Positives form the week: I have fallen in love with cycling again.  This past week, I attended two cycling classes (including a 6 A.M. class) and cycled on my own 3 other days.  I was able to make it to the gym every day but Tuesday this week and began the 31-Day challenges for arms, abs, and legs.
Something to do better: The arms challenge involves push-ups and I’ve been doing “girl” push ups.  I would love to be able to do full push ups, so that will be something I work on doing better this week.
Goal for next week: My goal is to stay focused on healthy eating and exercising even with all the craziness of Valentine’s Day.  I’m not a huge candy fan, but with rain on the forecast….my stress level is definitely high.  I know California needs the rain, but I could do without crazy-hyper students.  My fiancĂ© and I are also going away next weekend, so I will need all my willpower to avoid overindulging during our mini-vacation.
One word: “Love”: With Valentines Day on the horizon, I can’t help but think about love this week.  My love list includes my fiancĂ©, my family, my dogs, my students, and I can’t forget myself.  I feel so much better about myself since starting to eat healthy and exercise in January.

Slim Down Saturday Update....February 1st

Happy Saturday and first day of February! I am linking up with Gina for Slim Down Saturdays.
If you aren't linking up with us, you should.  It's a great motivator and support system.

Ultimate goal: I am a little over halfway to my goal of losing 15 pounds before my wedding in April.  I’ve been spending most of my time at the gym doing cardio, but I am going to start increasing my weight lifting time and focus on my arms.
Gain/Loss for the week: I thought for sure I had gained this week, so I was pleasantly surprised that I lost a pound.
Total since starting: I am down 8 pounds which is an average of 2 pounds of weight loss each week.
Positives form the week: I woke up early Thursday and made it to a 6:00 A.M. spin class.  It felt great to start the day like that.  I will try to make it to at least one morning class a week.
Something to do better: I’ve still been falling asleep on the couch and then struggling to fall back asleep once in bed.  So this week I still need to work on getting more consistent sleep by getting into bed before falling asleep.
Goal for next week: I feel so much better after I work out, so my goal this week is to work out every day this week.
One word: “Balance: This week I struggled with finding balance between work, family, friends, and me.  I need to focus on my own health by eating healthy and working out, but I also need to make time for family and friends. Indulging every once in awhile is okay.
