Slim Down Saturday - January 24th

I hope everyone is enjoying their weekend so far. I am linking up with Gina for Slim Down Saturday to share my weight loss progress.

I’m still not completely recovered from my cold, but I am feeling better than last week.  The congestion prevented me from doing a lot of cardio this week, but I focused on eating clean and keeping up with the strength parts of the Tone It Up workout plan.   I am happy to say that I have been completely gluten-free and dairy-free since January 1st.  I have noticed a huge difference in how I feel, and the scale is definitely showing the difference too. I’m amazed that I have hit the 10 pound mark already, but I have worked hard every day.  I am here to answer any questions or give any tips to help others achieve the results they want.

Something to Do Better:
I have been wearing a Misfit Flash (cheaper version of a Fit Bit) since Christmas and have noticed that my sleep is pretty horrible.  I am restless for a quarter to a half of the time I am asleep.  I’m not sure why I am so restless because I don’t remember waking up or tossing and turning most of the time.  I am going to try a nighttime routine to try and wind down and hopefully sleep more soundly.

Last Week’s Goal:
My husband ended up having to go out of town for business, so my meal plan didn’t really happen.  I can eat the same thing several nights in my row, unlike my husband. I did try two new recipes though:
  - I made shrimp and “grits from cauliflower.  It was delicious!

  - I also made curry tofu with zucchini noodles….yum!
I can’t believe how much cauliflower and zucchini I have been eating recently.  I would never buy them before, but I am loving how versatile they can be.

This Week’s Goal:
I have been doing much better with the strength and yoga parts of the Tone It Up workout plan, but have skipped or modified a lot of the cardio parts.  This week, I want to up my cardio, so I will run and go to spin class two times each.  I love the endorphins that I get from a good sweat session, so this should be awesome!

As I continue to make healthy changes in my lifestyle, I need to focus my energy on building new healthy habits instead of fighting the old unhealthy habits.

  1. Congratulations on losing 10 pounds! You are doing such an awesome job on a healthy lifestyle. I'm getting a Fitbit (my reward to myself) today, and a definitely interested to see how my sleep is. That has to be interesting.

  2. 10 pounds already?! AMAZING!!! You go! I thought my sleep was horrible because I am always tired (I was found to have a vitamin d deficiency twice but I didn't think it was still the case) but it seems once I am asleep, I stay asleep and not restless all night. I am just tired I guess (or I need to get myself some more vitamin D). Have a great week!

  3. I was almost going to get cauliflower this week for a similar dish, but ended up changing my mind and doing something else instead. It's good to hear that it's delicious though! Congrats on losing 10! You're halfway there!

  4. Great job on losing 10 pounds!! You are almost at your goal. Keep it up!

  5. You are doing fantastic! Wow 10 pounds already! The recipes you made look really good. Especially the shrimp and grits. I am going to be trying that one for sure. I have also been gluten and dairy free and I agree I always feel so much better for it. Good luck with your goals this week!
